So the life is plodding along as usual but with bounds and leaps into a solid career.
You know when you come up with a strategy on how to accomplish your next 3 year goal and you implement that strategy with a few well thought out tactics? Does it ever seem to work out the way you wanted it to? Usually the answer is no!! But for once I think my plan is working.
I've been wanting to consider myself a "professional" something for a long time and I always thought that that involved some sort of magic designation or university degree. I think now that what you really need to do is to just be a professional.
That is, treat everyday and every interaction as if you were a pro! For example, when I go to sign up for next semester's classes, I don't show up unprepared. I have all my ducks in order, all my class numbers, information and documents required to do it right. I dress well and I greet the receptionist with a big full smile. I clearly and slowly explain what I want and I show appreciation when I leave. It pays. People notice, and they talk.
Now expand this standard out into the rest of your life. How will you go to the doctor? The dentist? The accountants? The Bank? How will you greet the store clerk, the printer, or police officer? Forth right, eye to eye and with respect? Considerate, yet ambitious?
Being a pro means being professional, being organized and knowing you can tackle any problem.
Are you a professional?
